Your Yoga Teachers: Les Smith and Cerissa Nyen

Les and Cerissa run workshops and retreats internationally and are currently based in Bangkok where they teach popular classes and have a loyal following of students from all around the world.

Les is a unique Iyengar teacher with his relaxed style and likable humour. His teaching reflects his original training in the Iyengar system and work as a Shiatsu body therapist to help habit-prone bodies increase strength and flexibility and treat injuries. His multi-faceted approach combines his passion for the art of asana practice with the science of the mechanics of movement.

Cerissa has a background in different forms of dance, ranging from ballet, belly dance, jazz dance and free form dancing, bull riding and watching her do her yoga practise and teach you can really see this. Her initial interest in yoga asana sprang from wanting to explore new movement of the body. Cerissa's experience as a dancer enables her have a deep grasp of asana, and she is able communicate her experience to her students so they are really able to feel and develop their practise.

Together Les and Cerissa will construct and deconstruct the yoga, and with their different backgrounds will come together and give you a completely rounded yoga experience that will refine your practise, your body and your mind more in 11 days than what you will get in years of normal classes!

Both Les and Cerissa are registered through the Yoga Alliance as ERYT 200, and Les is also registered under the Iyengar yoga system.

The Yoga

For this 11-night retreat there will be 5 hours daily yoga classes split between a morning and late afternoon session. There will be one whole free day and one afternoon to allow for trips to the other islands, including snorkeling and diving in the spectacular reefs.

All classes will be led jointly by Les Smith and Cerissa Nyen who together will help you to develop a daily practise so inspiring you'll want to get on your mat as soon as you get home.

Morning yoga session

Each day will begin with Meditation or Pranayama. Following this you will do a 2 -2 ????????? hour dynamic vinayasa yoga session led by Cerissa, with Les assisting and adjusting you into the postures. Cerissa will teach you the techniques of vinyasa that tie the poses together in a 'moving meditation'; develop the 'inner limbs' of yoga to develop focus, concentration and clarity of mind; use the breath to feel safe enough to move through difficult poses and work safely at your edge.

Afternoon yoga session

In the afternoon Les will deconstruct the dynamic morning session with Cerissa, while working on alignment to create an ease of movement that will lengthen and strengthen and bring intelligence to the body. Les will also work on each persons specific problem areas in their bodies regarding injuries and releasing hardness and stiffness in the body.

Les will stress the importance of mind involvement in your yoga asana and incorporate the mindfulness meditation into the asana class, as well as making the correlation between relationships formed on the mat with your practice and your everyday relationships.

This yoga retreat will inspire and challenge all levels of yoga practitioners. Beginners are welcome as long as you have some yoga experience (a few months), are relatively fit and ready to be encouraged to move beyond your perceived limitations.

THE DATES OF THIS RETREAT HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND WILL BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY
